Team Captain Petunia – Harmony Rising Star- Support Harmony - Donate Today!

Paralyzed? Please. Petunia doesn’t walk, she flies past the competition with sheer willpower and sassy Siamese attitude. Rescued from a critical situation and now calling Harmony home, she’s here to prove pity doesn’t win titles — grit does. She’s the cat the others should fear, because when Petunia and her team sets their sights on victory, no one else even stands a chance.


Shadow Cats is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of abused, abandoned, feral, stray, and injured cats in Round Rock, Austin and surrounding areas. Shadow Cats provides long term care to special needs cats in a cage free Sanctuary environment while also providing compassionate and humane resources to effect positive change in community cat populations through Trap, Neuter and Return program and spay/neuter programs.


 

About the Event

Shadow Cats on Parade is a major fundraising event at Shadow Cats. The purpose is to raise critical funds for the special needs and hospice cats at the Sanctuary in a fun and entertaining way. 

The cats at Shadow Cats live in five different areas of the Sanctuary. (Cookie’s Place, Cookie’s Annex, Harmony, Wild Side and Oasis) Each area and the cats within that area are engaging in a ‘mostly’ friendly competition going head-to-head to raise crucial funds. Each room has its own team captain and mission, and they’re all working hard to be named “Best of the Best!”.   The cat area that raises the most wins their very own Kitty Party, complete with treats and toys and they get bragging rights!  Read more about each area by clicking on each room.

Your donations to any given room helps that area to win!  All donations provide medical care, daily necessities, and the support these special cats need to thrive throughout the Sanctuary.

So which kitty is it?  Pick your favorite, get in their corner, make a donation, and cheer them on as they work to be the top team at the Sanctuary!

When Petunia was first rescued, her life had already been marked by unthinkable hardship. For several months, she lived in conditions no living being should endure. Still, Petunia persisted. She survived all the way through a hoarding situation that made the news and made us all collectively shed a tear for lives lost and hardship endured.

 

 When Petunia came to us, her little body carried the scars of an unknown past. Her spine was severed, leaving her partially paralyzed in both rear legs. One of her femoral heads was eroded, and she faced the added challenge of a megacolon diagnosis. Many would look at Petunia and see only limitations. But Petunia doesn’t see life that way, and neither do we. Petunia has will, has drive, and we know there are no mountains too tall for our Petunia to climb. She has the upper body strength to make a bodybuilder jealous, after all!

 

None of this holds our Petunia back. She is fast! She is full of personality, and love. We knew she was something special when, on her first day with us, she let us bathe her with no complaints and looked into our eyes like we'd hung the stars in the sky ourselves. She wants love and responds with affection. She trusts, she shows gratitude. But she's no pushover! Petunia persists. And for as long as she’s willing to fight, we’ll be right there beside her, offering unwavering support.

 

This is the heart of Shadow Cats. We stand for the cats others deem unworthy, unworthy of love, of care, of even a chance, and we embrace them for everything they are.

 

As Team Captain of Harmony, Petunia reminds us that no matter what life throws our way, we can choose to live for today and celebrate this very moment. But to do what we do, we need your support. To save cats like Petunia, we need our community behind us. Even a few dollars today can make an enormous difference, helping provide food, medical supplies, the dedicated staff who give specialized care, and the safe, loving sanctuary these cats call home.
